I have a lovely piece of mopani I originally bought for a gecko vivarium build I was working on and decided it was too heavy. I was thinking it would be great in the axolotl tank except its leaching tannins, even after soaking for several days.

Does this stop ever?

Simply, yes haha.

It will make your tank water a lovely tea colour for a few weeks, but eventually with regular water changes (which you will be doing anyway of course :p) it goes back to a clear colour.

I tried all the boiling and leaving it in a bucket ect, it didnt help much. But now i have clear water once again :)

If it really bothers you or you can't get rid of it for a ridiculous amount of time like mine , Seachem makes a product called purigen you can add to the filter. It cleared the tannins in my tank after a couple weeks. It had been ongoing for 2 months, and water changes weren't touching it.

It will bother me when there are axolotls in the tank!!! I want to see their smiling faces!!

I will look for that product on Amazon right now as I am going to buy the canister filter I really want instead of the waterfall one I have.

+1 for seachem Purigen! That stuff is fantastic, easy, regenerable, effective, and most importantly cheap! Crystal clear water and it also keeps parameters in check.
