Greetings,
I am in the process of building a more suitable vivarium for my 4 FBTs, moving them from a 10 gallon 1/2 water 1/2 land, with a "turtle beach" foam insert seperating the water from the EcoEarth to a 25 gallon that will have a great stuff/coco bedding background complete with waterfall, and live plants.
Now, I left for the weekend and my FBTs were fine, I came back today after only 4 days gone and the EcoEarth and portion of the "turtle beach" foam nearest the bedding has white mold all over the top of it. Frogs seem fine, unfortunately I don't have the time to remedy this issue till hopefully tommorrow night. But, this is my first problem with mold and I'm just afraid of it happening again in the new viv, as I'm trying to make it as maintenance free as possible.
Help or suggestions?

If the mold is growing on the FOAM, I wonder if it's really mold. Could it be something coming out of the foam? Was there any food put in the vicinity of where the mold is growing?

I throw crickets in there and they run around on the land portion, but it's like a thin light blanket of mold over almost the entire land portion. It kind of looks like very fine white powdered sugar was dusted all over the land.

Ventilation? Light? Waterquality? (filtration).
Ideal FBT set-up contains water, gravel, bricks (slate), live waterplants
and (a lot of) fake-plants as a hide-out. Don't try to make it a "natural habitat",
it's a waste of time and energy, eventually.
