hi guys i just bought a baby marbled salamander and i also have a baby fire salamander from before. the baby fire is only about an inch or 2 longer then the baby marbled. can you mix marbled sals and fire sals?

It is not recommended to mix different species of salamanders. Sometimes people will mix closely related species, such as different ambystomatids (I still wouldn't do it). I would not risk mixing fire salamanders and marbleds salamanders. They're not closely related and they're even from different continents. Here's an article about the risks of species mixing.

Would it be ok to mix (in a large terrarium) a spotted salamander with a marbled one? After all they can occur in the same areas? ??? If anyone knows? Thanks!

If they are approximately the same size, it should be possible. However, be very sure that both are getting enough to eat. Sometimes one species will be more efficient at eating the foods offered and the other will do poorly as a result. Also be sure that the enclosure is plenty big enough and has plenty of hides. (Please don't tell me you are attempting this in a 10-gallon tank:eek:)

Noooo, it's a 50G tank and I am getting it ready now..... still though, my spotted salamander is always hiding so I have no idea if it's eating....
