Hello! I'm a brand new poster on this site and I just need some help from anyone who knows what they're doing.
I have an axolotl named Eggs who I've owned for quite a while, and she is very dear to me. However, she's come down with a very minor fungal infection (Just a little ball of fuzzy fungus at the tip of one of her gills). I have been treating her with daily salt baths in a separate container. (3 Tsps. of Pond Salt dissolved into a liter of filtered, dechlorinated water) but this has been ineffective. It will cause the fungus to fall off, but it will return very quickly. I do have a 30 ML bottle of Methylene Blue on hand, and I'm wondering if I can add a small amount directly into the tank? She is currently in a 20 Gal long with a sponge filter. Googling and reading articles hasn't really helped much, so I hope you guys can help. I was thinking about only adding 1 drop, but since she's and amphibian, I don't know if that will be safe. Thanks for the help!

methylene blue needs to be done as a bath as it will damage the biological filtration, as a bath the dosage is half fish dose (same blue as zero nitrite test)
use 3.5g/l non iodised salt in the tank to remove the fungal infection then reduce aquarium salt level to 2g/l to act as a preventative, alternately read about and use holtfreters solution. info here.. Axolotls - Requirements & Water Conditions in Captivity

Thank you so much! I'll be sure to do that!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
