On Friday my female P.Walti laid eggs for the second time. The first clutch was about 50 and most hatched. This time over 100 were laid. Half of the eggs look like the embryo is melting, they disolve inside the egg, appear to have fungus, but its all on the inside. My guess is these are just infertile eggs. I don't do anything to breed them i just have a pair in a 10 gallon aquarium on my desk at work. The tank is filled 1" from the top, with a glass cover, compact fluorescent light, a Tetra internal filter and the temperature is approximately 68-70 F year round, as our offices are set to stay at 68 F. I transfer the eggs to a smaller aquarium and turn the filter down to just a trickle so there is no current in the tank. The tank has a heater and is about 70-72 F. The eggs looked like they were melting before I moved them. The eggs must have been laid on Thursday night, because I noticed them on Friday when I came into work. The eggs were laid on anacharis, flower pot, glass, the filter and the filter cord. The parents are fed on a diet of frozen bloodworms. Some eggs got sucked into the filter. Eggs started hatching 2 days ago. I've bred allot of fish and frogs in the past, so i am familiar with aquatic eggs. The only thing i do different from the first time is i have stopped putting salt in the parents tank several months ago, only because i ran out. Any ideas on whats up with the melting eggs?

You have a bunch of infertile eggs that are cytolizing. The question is why is your female so infertile and I can't answer that for you.
