In Feb my male Melanoid had eggs with a golden albino and a melanoid.

I know which eggs were from the albino and these have developed into Wildtypes.

My question to the know it alls on gentics is the following, why/how would 2 melanoids produce the following young?

These young show they are true melanoids as they do not have the reflective ring in their eyes, but what has confused me is that these young (all 37 of them left) are now showing a wildtype pigment in them.

It starts at the nose but gets less and less as you go over there backs towards there tails.

Could this be a dormant gene? Or what else could cause this colour?

They also have no colour from half way down there bodies, but i believe this will develop as they get older.

I would really like to keep one of these guys but currently have no more room for anymore adults. Would it be worth keeping one?

They look melanoid to me. Being melanoid does not get rid of the yellow color (although it is usually pretty reduced), just the iridescent shine. In your case, yours look like 'high yellow' melanoids. A little odd, but nothing REALLY special.

The light underside is certainly odd. If they actually STAY that way, I'd say they are quite freaky. Sometimes juveniles have interesting colors that are lost as they grow up, though, so it may be just a phase they are going through.

Out of curiosity... is the wild-type (brown) part of their color the same as the color of the ones that came from the albino female?

Hi Jen, yes the Wildtypes have this colour mainly on them!

I'll take a picture (with my new camera i got for my birthday today) to show you..

They are from the melanoid parents as i saw her laying and the only male i have is melanoid.

Hi Kim

Just wondering how old this axie is? 4 of our 5 wildtypes have this colouring on the bottom part of their body like yours (no idea what parents were). 2 of them are 9/10mths and other 2 are about 3yrs old. One is similar to yours, another is a splotchy dark brown and other two (9/10mth olds) are quite dark, apart from where the lighter colour starts.
