Bought for me as a mothers day gift and named by my 7 year old daughter(!!) this is Trisha, my new wild type axolotl. She's settling in well, and eating like a pig, so much so, in fact, I'm tempted to change her name to Oprah!

Please excuse the appalling photography, but I'm a complete mum when it comes to anything technical! I'll try to get some better pics of her later.

Your axolotl looks very healthy, wild types are my favorites.

She's beautiful. I like the name Oprah it is unique for a Axolotl. But if your daughter named her you may want to stick with Trisha. Nice Mother's Day present indeed.

HAHAHH after Trisha in the Trisha Goddard show?:p:p:p
(i see the likeness hehe)

Awww, Trisha is lovely. I like her pattern, and she has a very pretty, but bit naughty face at the same time. Bet she is an entertaining one

The bottom picture of Trish is great! She seems to be a natural in front of the camera. Have you thought about signing her as a model?!

(Say nothing Ryan! We know axies cannot be couture models and we know that axies can't pose...

By the way, Ryan, where did you get your mudpuppy? Are they for sale in the UK? They look great - really like them!

I looked on the Net and there are some mudpuppies for sale in the UK at www.pollywog.co.uk

Do they always stay completely aquatic? I saw a picture of one that was adult but it then said that they have external gills all their life. Wasn't sure what to think!

Would love to get one if they ever come to Finland (which I highly doubt), but the EU being the EU nowadays, I'm sure I could import one... Are they pretty much the same as axolotls in terms of character and housing etc? S'pose I should sniff around the other areas of this board...

Edit: just checked on the pollywog website and they have lesser sirens for sale but a caresheet on mudpuppies. Not sure whether that means they have them for sale or not...

Paul-Mark- Yes they are always aquatic, they are neotenic (retains the larval characteristics all their life) and can not be induced into metamorphosis.

I think a mudpuppy would need a larger tank than an axolotl (mine is in a 20 gallon), they should be kept below 68F at all times, and offered many hiding places. A current is also good, one produced by a submersible filter (mine is a fluval 2 plus) works just fine.

Here is a picture of my mudpuppy (i'll bet everyone is pretty tired of seeing her, but I love taking pictures).

the quality sucks with this camera, I have a better one but I didn't feeling like using it as it is harder to upload from.

paul--> the're available in finland, I just bought four of em. (in Vaasa). But I think that you can order them at your nearest petstore.
