So I have these two Axolotl's that I wanted to sex but i think they are both females. I got them in February and they are both around 8 or 9 inches now and I'm almost certain they are females. I have a 50 gallon aquarium and I believe I can have a few more Axolotl's yet. I was wondering if I should Buy a mature male or just wait and see if one of them is in fact a male, not a female. I know the people here has a wide variety of knowledge so I was wondering what you enthusiasts would do in my situation. Any suggestions?

It's okay to buy another one. Can you post a picture of your two 'ladies'? Now I'm curious :D

8-9" is usually pretty safe for sexing your axies. Pictures would help confirm it for you.
But do you want babies?

If you're going to get another it needs to be about the same size. You could comfortable have 4 in a 50 gal.

Sometimes it can take up to 18 months for an axie to decide to show its manhood haha, if your wanting babies its best not to breed them until they are at least 12 months old so if you do want a male wait for them to be old enough :D

My 11 inch 15 month old female axie 'turned' male almost over night, I would not be in a rush to sex them just yet. ;)

I agreed some males take longer than other i too have had that "sudden change in sex" from male to female over the period of 3 days. With 2 axolotls in a 50 gallon tank you do have room for 3 more axolotls, if you feel more comfortable with getting a adult male then do so but generally babies and sub adult are cheaper and if you buy another two there's a good chance out of the 4 one will turn out male.

Yes i was looking to sex them because eventually I will move them into a very large tank. When I bought them the breeder told me they were one male and one females. I'm not in a rush so I guess I can wait and see if one of the ladies suddenly decide to switch genders. The thing is, I live in a relative small town so there are no breeders in my area so it is hard to find babies or even any axolotl at all. I'm going to toronto soon and there are breeders there so I would have bought one there. I decided I will just wait and see if they turn out to be sexable. I will post some pictures of them soon. I camera wasnt working and that is why I didnt post them initially. Thanks for all the feedback! this website is amazing and this is the only place I go for actual advice.

Yeah there are alot of breeders in the GTA including myself and by partner Kyanna. Even if you wernt planning on making a trip to Toronto just find any breeder in Ontario tell them to ship it to you, Canada post will ship anywhere in Ontario next day delivery for $40 or less so if you can find those cheap odd breeder that sell a dozen for $10 its worth it.
