they are adorable!!
i wish my axols were small like that again!
by the way, your axies have beautiful colorations! leucistic right? the spots go all the way down the fin...its so pretty!

Andre, great piccys.

What type of camera and lens did u use? I have a Canon S50 5Megepixel, which can zoom in a lot but I think my babes are way too small to try and get a decent piccy. They don't even have legs yet!

Heather,

Yes they are all leucistics ... I'm now trying to get hold of some wildtype or any other type to mix the colors a bit

Mik,

I'm using a Nikon Coolpix 5700 that comes with a 35-280 mm lens. It can take Macro pics with the subject as close as 2cm from the lens. Not to mention that these pics were taken at maximum zoom (esp. the larger 5th pic). The auto-focus is a bit cumbersome but there's a possibility to manually adjust the focus.

Btw, Pic #5 was not altered ... and the subject's size nose-to-gills is about 12mm.

Great cam in all respects.

wow, you can see right through them! that's so neat! What is the gold stuff inside its tummy? is that gold pigment? It looks like its inside of it. i wonder what it is, it's pretty

Hello!!! I'm new to this website and idk how to ask a proper question on the designated spot yet, so I'll ask here, I'm a first time Axolotl owner, and my dad used to run an aquarium store, anyways... Orca, my Axolotl, seems to loose parts of her toes on one limb from time to time, I can't seem to find the problem. Tempature is well, she doesn't seem to have any infections or anything, though. And I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a vet in Brazil for amphibians that are in a reasonable distance to drive without stressing Orca out too much

Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
