Finally got some halfway decent pics of Max

, I think he's camera shy, he always seems to be behind a rock or something whenever I get the camera out. Sorry some are a bit blurry. This first lot are from around January when we first put him into the tank.

Just out of interest, can anyone tell if he's actually a boy or a girl from these pics?
These are of his tank and from a few days ago.

He is a she. You can tell by the pic from above. She has eggs in her and her tail fin is pretty big on her back. hope this helps

But use sand and live plants.

It doesn't look old/long enough to sex.

I would remove the river-rocks. These are a serious pain to try and clean between. I've been there. Switching to sand was probably the best move I ever made.

As far as plants, I can't keep plants alive for anything. But if you'd like a more 'realistic' looking setup, go for the silk plants as opposed to the plastic. They're a little more expensive, but I think they look better. You can also find them cheaper at craft stores as opposed to the pet store.
