HI

I currently have 3 small marbled newt efts. I feed them on small earth worms and gut loaded crickets. Should I be giving them any kind of vitamin supplements?

Thanks

From my experience, and what I've read, marmoratus seem to be more susceptible to "bent spine" problems than other kinds of newts are. For that reason, I would recommend dusting the crickets, about once every 2-3 feedings. The minimal kind of dust would be a calcium + Vitamin D powder. Be sure to buy a product that comes with an expiration date; if the vitamin D sits too long it breaks down and the calcium becomes worthless. The "ideal" dusting product is a 2-part mix of calcium+D and a separate powder with the other vitamins (like Rep-Cal and Herti-Vit).
