Hi , I can breed Marbled Newts no problem and grow on the larvae , but seem to find them very slow growing when on land . They dont seem to eat much .
Any ideas for the best way to rear them ? I have them in a large outdoor enclosure but have had them in containers but to no advantage so put them back out.

Hi,

My little ones are just about to morph so I too would be interested in people's ideas and tips regarding this! Thanks

When i have reared marbleds from juvs their main food has been live bloodworm fed on paper towel, plus pinhead crickets and whiteworm but mostly bloodworm. My adults are laying eggs at the moment and are a good 4.5 inches in length. they are just over 2.5 yrs old. Some breeders feed them by putting them in an empty cricket carton with the live bloodworm so that the food is right in front of them and you can see how much they are eating. In the past i dont think i have fed enough, juvs do eat a lot and at regular intervals, where adults are fed several times a week juvs will probably eat daily.
Can't wait for my eggs to hatch they are great newts to rear.

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
