Marbled newts

hi, i have a male marbled newt which has been kept in an outdoor enclosure with my fire salamanders, but recently the weather turned frosty so i brought him into the conservatory in a 50/50 aquaterrarium. he has started to grow his breeding crest, so i purchased a female from a pet shop. would it be possible to breed them if the female hasn,t undergone a similar cooling period

I would say it will depend on the overall condition of the female. What is the temperature in the conservatory? Marmoratus do not need to get very cold in order to breed. But the female may not lay eggs if she has been seriously stressed at the pet shop, or if she doesn't have enough fat reserves.

thanks for the help. the female is very large, and appears to have good fat reserves. she feeds very well even during daylight hours, and doesn't appear to be stressed. when i find out how, i will upload a photo, she is about 7 inches long, and stunning colours
