Map Photo Contest

It's about time to change the main photo on our frappr map. Instead of choosing another photo from my portfolio, I've decided to throw a little photo contest and let you all have a chance at getting your photo as the main picture of our group map. Here are the rules:

1- Your Photo shall be submitted by posting it on this thread. Only one photo per member, so choose carefully.
2- The photo you submit must be one that you photographed yourself.
3- The photo subject must be a caudate or several caudates.
4- The deadline for photo submissions will be 11:59pm PST(U.S)on May 5th- one week from now.
5- Once the deadline ends I will make a voting thread in the "Donor, Site Contributor, Moderator Lounge" under the "General Discussion" Section of the website. Only donors, site contributors and moderators are allowed to vote.
6- Voting will be held open for one week. Only one vote per qualifying member.

Good luck to all participants. Let the contest begin.

Sounds good to me. Pity founders can't vote (sorry Nate, looks like we're not welcome).

I will have to consult the official contest rulebook, but I'm sure you and Nate qualify as "Site Contributors"

Hi!
Can you tell me what a frappr map is or where
is it the picture will be posted?

Thank you

I too couldn't find the photo on the main page - must have been looking in the wrong place. Well, I'll get the ball rolling and go for the cute vote.

This probably goes without saying, but I assume you want an "original" photo, i.e., a photo that is not already published or posted somewhere on the Internet.

I can already see I'm going to have difficulty voting... 2 excellent contenders already. What species is that, Kamil?

As long as the submitted photo was taken by the participant, it qualifies.

John/Mark, you can find the map on the main page of this forum near the top with the "Add yourself to the official* caudata.org user map" link, and the main picture can be found on the left above the map. Currently the main photo is of the two Notophthalmus viridescens.

As Will said - it's a Triturus helveticus alonsoi

I have published this picture on my homepage and soon I will publish it in print-form...Still I hope I am qualified

Jeff - is there anyway to postpone the vote until there's a few more pictures submitted? Not much of a competition with only Kamil and myself. Com'on folks get your pictures posted!

Great photos so far and I am not a good photographer. Nevertheless, here is one of my Cynops ensicauda popei juveniles.

I'm really no good at taking photo's (partially because I don't have my own camera, so I'm always borrowing, hehe.) Anyway, just for kicks, here's the best I've got:

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
