Males of species that are territorial are going to be aggressive to other males. Nothing you do will stop this inherent behaviour. Lots of space and visual barriers are the obvious things to try but there may still be clashes when boundaries are crossed. If fighting leads to injury you should certainly consider separating them. It's not fair on the newts to be suffering regular stress and physical injury. Remember that in the wild the loser would just look for another territory - something it can't do in a small fish tank.
