Hi everyone.

Have a group of Paramesotriton Chinensis and I'm trying to figure out their genders.
What do you think male or female? 20130405_181050.jpg

Also. Why are these guys so aggressive and what can I do besides give them a lot of hiding places in order to control their aggression?

Thanks,
Steve

My guess would be male.

Males of species that are territorial are going to be aggressive to other males. Nothing you do will stop this inherent behaviour. Lots of space and visual barriers are the obvious things to try but there may still be clashes when boundaries are crossed. If fighting leads to injury you should certainly consider separating them. It's not fair on the newts to be suffering regular stress and physical injury. Remember that in the wild the loser would just look for another territory - something it can't do in a small fish tank.
