My female is in other side of tank with a divider and the two males are on the other side.
I have noticed my males bits have got all swollen and puffy and they have started their mating dance and dropping their seed.
Can they sense the female is close by and this is why they are doing it or are they typical males just like the human kind that need to release their seed frequently?

They might be able to sense that she's there, or maybe they're into each other or just a bit confused that one of them isn't a female, lol.

Sometimes they just get a bit frisky I think.
When it was winter here my male dropped his spermatophores quite often (at least 4-5 times over about a month or so) all over the place.

Axolotl males just arnt fussy lol, i often see my males get frisky with each other whilst the female watches them from a hide.

They're more of a 'drop seed, ask questions later' type breeder. That axolotl may or may not be female, but why take the risk? Better try to mate with it anyway!

My brother seems to think like that...

LOL!
