Making my own aquarium decorations

I was searching around for hides and things that I like, but I couldn't find any that I liked that were an appropriate size and thought that I could make my own. I was reading up trying to what stuff was safe to use. I have acrylic paints already, but I'd be willing to buy something else if that isn't safe. I read that polymer clays are similar to pvc pipes, but I can't find any of that information on a website that actually sells the clay.

If anyone knows what advice to give me, I'd appreciate it immensely.

Ever considered using driftwood? Looks great and you can find it in pretty much ANY size.

I've changed to carving from styrofoam because I found that the clay can be toxic, so I won't risk it. To keep it from floating, I'm going to put weights on it. I'm going to paint it with acrylics and then use something to seal it. I read that there is a silicon sealant that would keep the paint from getting wet and keep the lotl from toxins. Now I just wanted to run that by the forum because I know how unreliable internet sources can be.
