I have a 20 gallon long tank. And would like to get a new filter. What filters do people recommend.

For a 20gal you'll need a filter rated for 80gal/H.

I like cannisters personally.

Personally a fan of a HOB. Having a Aquaclear myself, you can pick it up on amazon.

Canisters are popular because they can hold all kinds of media (biological being the most important) and on most the flow rate can be adjusted (Axolotls don't like a lot of water flow, like with HOBs - you'd have to baffle a HOB).

I personally just run a sponge filter in my tank. they're cheap, have great biological filtration, and nothing on them needs replaced or can break.

I have a sponge filter in my 5ft tank but it wasn't enough so ive also got another smaller filter with a pump to remove solids
