I just took a short video of my newest axie, a big golden female, and by chance, she decided to show off and give a little yawn.

I just thought I would post it for you guys here, as I know some of you have never seen a axie do this before.

YouTube - Yawning axie.

I forgot to add, it also just goes to show how big axoltol mouths are, and what they can possibly swallow by mistake.

I´ve often seen my axies yawning, but they never did that on a photo or video. How did you teach them that?
Great video! :D

Great catch, Chris. I love how she just stops afterward and looks at you like, "What? Can't a girl get some rest around here?"

Hopefully we can show this to future gravel/pebble/"My axies don't eat rocks" members!

that's a great idea kaysie, feel free to stickey this thread in the "sick axolotol" part of the discussion forum. I would love for this video to potentially help other axie keepers.

Caught mine doing the same thing earlier! Didn't have the camera though, wondered what she was doing at first haha

Excellent! I've caught Clifford yawning a few times and it's the cutest thing ever. I've never had my camera out to catch it though :( but now I can show some friends this, just to prove that it's the cutest thing ever :)

Lol I've seen my boy doing this recently.. I figured it was yawning but great to confirm. Cute!!!

What an awesome catch! I can never catch Zora's cute behaviour. You must have amazing timing :p

As for what they fit in there, mine managed to fit both my thumb and my pointer fingers in at the same time before trying to rip them off in a death roll. (and I may have been giggling like a 5 year old the entire time :p)

I caught a glimpse of my axolotl yawning. It was the day he was delivered to my home. It must've been a long trip for him.

what a gorgeous colour your axoltls is she is beautiful. Can I ask how large she is because she looks really big but hard to tell from the film.

Heheh.. I could watch this video over and over!

she would be just under 20cm from head to tail, so she is getting to be on the big side now, and she's still growing!

Just got so excited, saw Spongebob yawn for the first time just now :). Unfortunately had just put my camera down so missed the photo op :(

Absolutely love it when axies yawn. The cutest thing. Some of them yawn very quickly, lik eon this video, and others do very long leisurely huge yawns, haha :)
