The flash made this guy look alot redder than he actually was, he was a bright banana yellow with bright spots in nature. It was dusk and i had to use the flash or it wouldnt have come out.

yeah, he was pretty big, but was missing at least half of his tail (which was just starting to regenerate when i found him). You can see the tail looks quite stumpy in that first picture.

SV length was in the neighborhood of 3 inches, total length was probally 4.5.

Its definatly one of the prettiest local salamanders around here, but super hard to find. this is only the second one i have seen in the 13 years i have been salamander hunting in this area.

I was'nt really thinking about size when I was photoing him, he could very well be 6 inches long, i was just making guess based on how big my hands are.

Wow, i am amazed you can find 6 of these in one day, like i said, this is only the second one i have seen in my life around here, and i have been salamander hunting for a long time. I mostly find duskys, 3 lined, springs and slimeys. maybe i should stop at some good habitats next time I drive through ohio to get some pictures.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
