Hi,

I am a 6,5 years old S.s.t. female:

And here I am on the day when I was born:

Some days after metamorphosis:

And at the age of 6 month:

Great! You should post a picture from the adult from the dorsal side, then you can nicely see that the colorpattern has changed the first year.

Hi Serge,

here two pic of this nice female.

Great, just what I expected to change in the pattern happened!

Yep, the beautiful juveniles you buy can turn out less yellow when the grow. Some others (like gallaica) can change even much more. But the general pattern stays the same when the animals are 1 year old until they die.

Beautiful animal and fascinating photo series, Paul. Thank you for sharing

I usual observed a changing of the general pattern at my S.s.t. offspring up to an age of one year, sometimes up to two years. Later only few changing is possible.
Changing is the younger the more.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
