My Lissotriton vulgaris have been courting. They are in a 30 gallon tank stocked with plants, mossy land areas and thriving daphnia. Here is the male with his webbed back feet and crest for impressing female newts:
Here's the female resting on land, constantly chased and fanned by the male when she's in water:
Here's the male tail fanning her, sending hormones her way...
He got lucky, she liked his style, so... one morning I found eggs in the tank:
