I picked up my new tank tonight and it came with an external light.
Don't know wattage or anything could check if needed. but its the same light I use for my goldfish but one is a purple glowing light (black light or UV or something?) and the other is just normal? Which would be better for my axxies when I get them? Keep in mind I can't afford much so either of these or none for the moment, until i can save up.
It is quite dark in my room because I never open blinds. Blinds keep it 100% cooler in here, not to mention all i can see is an old fence 2 feet away anyhow, and my windowledge aircon doesnt allow the window to open, sun stays on my side of the house almost all day.

Hello Sapien,
the aquarium when they bring two lamps is usually one to one and fauna to flora. Usually it is for the flora have something written about the flora that can be up to own keyword flora. As for the axis do not know, but as the wrapping other newts do not need light bulbs you can only post to the flora. The power you have to make a relationship between volts and liters of water, which normally gives a volt per liter, as I remember! However as for the axis are larger aquarium is necessary to make such a relationship, you can pick and choose from the low power is not of course!
I have helped! ;)
If at any time that I was wrong correct me!
Sorry for the English!

Thanks for trying Lusiwarrior, but I actually can't understand that :<
If anyone can clear that up it would help :p

Hi Sapien,

your axies don´t need the light, neither the day-light nor the purple UV light. They feel better in the dark.
But the plants do. If there are any live plants in your tank, you should use the light for 5-6 hours per day. I for myself would prefer the day-light, because the UV could induce algae-growing.
I hope, you can understand my post and it would be a little bit helpful.

Greetz, Tina
