Light grey underbelly

I have just bought my first axolotl and he is black is it normal for a 5 inch to have a pale grey underbelly
 
Most darker axolotls have lighter bellies. And it's cute :)
 
He/she might also be a Wildtype rather than a Melanoid. Mine was sold to me as 'black' and looked very dark for a few weeks, then she turned a chocolate brown colour with iridophores and a grey belly, which may or may not have lighter spots or patches. Apparently Wildtypes often have paler bellies, which were used in the wild to disguise axolotls swooping down on prey from above :)
 
Totally normal. Check out his eye to find out if he's wild-type or melanoid though, I have two with almost the exact same colouring and one's a melanoid and one's wild. Wild types have shiny parts in their eyes and melanoid's are all black.
