Meet my new axie!! I'm still deciding on a name... I thought I'd settled on Araxie, because it sounds nice next to 'axolotl', but now I'm not sure! My other choices are Ula, Gula, Ulma... all are water themed meanings. Ulma is based off the Tolkien myth Ulmo, the vala who is in charge of the sea. I added the a at the end for a feminine effect... but I guess my axie could always turn out to be a boy. Not that it matters. What do you like best? :)
Let me know if you think the sand looks too big... I was a little worried about it as the axolotl is sooooo tiny!!! I can't tell if it's just worms inside of him or bits of sand. Guess I shall find out... But for now it seems to be doing fine and is very happy and curious!!
Oh... and as you can see, it has a bunch of teeny tiny little black freckles. Any chance these will get bigger and/or darker? Or will they just stay tiny? I'm curious :)
Anyway enough blabbing here are some pictures AND SOME VIDEO!! I am so obsessed with this little cutie that my fiance is quite jealous...

Enjoy.

Well... I am removing the sand now.

Wut a cute axolotl I love the huge eyes it has :)

I name my pets off of old gods and myths. I have a GFP named Cthulu, and a melanoid named Krakken. I'm going to get another one and call it Thor (you should know who he is) or Brigit (the goddess of fire in celtic traditions)

how adorable! I hate not having names picked out, but I think my axie could be a male, and i'll have to change its name if so.

At least most of your names are neutral :)

(sand turned out to be not a problem because it's pooping A LOT!)

cute names panda
and i know sapphire.. i feel bad that it is yet to be named!!
oh gosh i'm still undecided!!!

I would love to one day get a melanoid and name it Maeglin :)

I'm not going to lie, that is one cute axolotl! mine was about 15cm when he was given to me so I missed the tiny cutey phase :(

Your lil axie is so cute!! Do you have updated pics? I bet he grew alot in a month!! How is he doing?

That little one's precious! I'm a bit of a nerd and I like to name mine after pokemon. My current juveniles are Mudkip and Wooper. I did have a couple others named Dratini and Dragonaire, but they died shortly after I got them  (RIP little buddies). I have 12 babies and am still deciding which water pokemon to go with

I like Gula. Then, you could call her/him "Goo" for short :D Mine is named Leviathan, I have another salamander named Behemoth. I like mythical creatures ^^

He's been growing so fast! Check it out!

oh my gosh how adorable!! looking at these pics makes me so excited to be getting one of these little cuties!! and makes me even more determined to make sure i get a small young axolotl so that i can go through all the stages together with him or her :D

Wow he grew up fast!
That picture is adorable, it looks like he's trying to carry the moss ball off.

I'm just gonna post a bunch of recent pictures. He is a little over a year old now :)
I ended up naming him "Lil Dude" after THE DUDE (Big Lebowski), because he abides.
I have never once seen him stressed, and, like all axolotls, he just straight chills.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
