First up, size:

I've seen quite a variety of egg size differences in this first batch, and even size difference in the first cell. Not surprisingly, the extra large cell didn't develop, nor did the smaller cells.

But here's the "egg" size comparisons:

Next up, Twins, but not Twins:

For the life of me, I was not able to separate these two eggs, and stopped trying after they wouldn't budge! But they are clearly two distinct eggs.

Now a picture of real twins, so damn cute:

And now for the sad part...bad eggs. At least I assume so:

In this one, the bottom one is good, but the other two look malformed. How does one cull these? Are they just slow? Does it happen, and resolve? We're looking at day 8/9 here, and these three are from the "late bloomer" pile:

Eggs, like axies, come in different shapes and sizes! Twins (and other multiples) are common, and I guess you could call the 2 eggs stuck together fraternal twins.

You can cull eggs by soaking them in clove oil or ethanol (put a few drops in a small tub, add some warm water and mix well add the eggs and leave them for a while) How long 'a while' is I'm not sure. This will anaesthetize them so they won't feel anything when frozen - just bung them in the freezer until solid.

But I would wait and see what happens, they may develop normally, or die naturally.

I'm leaving for a 9 day vacation tomorrow. The two week mark is 5 days into said vacation. I'm HOPING the cooler temps will mean a longer process, which means they won't hatch until right before my arrival. But outside of that, I'm going to keep all the eggs that look possibly viable until then. No harm no foul until they grow white/break/obviously stop developing, right?
