Hi there, I'm new to keeping axies and was wanting to know if it is normal for them to sit about and not do much swimming or moving, or have I got a very lazy axie.
He is eating well and does not seem distressed at all.

What were you expecting him to do?!
Yes axies are lazy.

But he may be shy and take a while to get used to his new environment.
If you interact with him - feed him worms by hand, talk to him - he will learn to come to meet you at the front of the tank.

My axies also like watching TV - probably just the flashing lights, but I find it amusing.

I have been feeding him worms by hand that he loves. :D
As a newby owner I was not sure if they were supposed to be more active, ie swimming around a lot.
He does try to dig up the plants that are in the tank and has destroyed a couple of them. Is this due to boredom?

In the wild they would dig for grubs & larvae, digging is normal, and the main reason many of us have plastic plants!

Hand feeding my axies with worms is the highlight of my day, I stick my head over the top of the tank and shout 'who wants wormies!' and they all come out to greet me! And proceed to bite my fingers because axies aren't very smart, their eyesight isn't that good, and fingers look yummier than worms....
