This may seem a dumb question but do females lay eggs regardless of whether there is a male present or not?? I found a clear sac of what looked to be white eggs. I can only assume they are axie eggs? But I have only one axolotl? Please help don't know if it's maybe snails brought in with plant?

Thank you

I´ve never heard of a female laying eggs without a male. The female normally absorbe the eggs when a male is missing.
Could you post a photo? Probable that will be eggs from snails.

I have only had him/her 2 wks. It is about 14 cm long. I don't have a photo as I assumed they were snail eggs and removed them. I only then thought it could have axie eggs when I saw it lying in the plants but I couldnt see eggs being laid and there are no more?

If it was a single glob 14 cm long, I would bet that it was snail eggs.
