Most of my eggs have now hatched.
I have one shallow, lidded tray measureing 12 x 6 inches..approx 1 inch deep, which I placed a batch of eggs for rearing ..had originally estimated 20..but having counted its closer to 40. All the others are in an older tank with approx 2 inches of water. Yesterday I fed both batches with freshly hatched brine shrimp. This morning its very clear that I will be needing to do regular cleaning , especially in the tray as it was rather messy..so here are the questions.
(1) How do you move the larvae into a clean tray?..I am about to use a spoon as the baster takes a lot of the fouled water.
(2) How long does the brine shrimp survive in the hatchery once hatched ? could the hatched shrimp be stored in the bottle in the fridge ? do they need the aeration all the time?

Thanks in advance.

When I had some salamander larvae i would move them using a flat slotted spoon (similar to this http://images.orgill.com/200x200/4849469.jpg only a metal version with much smaller holes) and bent the handle at a 90 degree angle. It seemed to work pretty well. What kind of spoon did you use?

I usually transfer larvae from 1 container to another by pouring. I carefully pour out most of the water (and baste out most of the debris), then quickly pour the remaining water/larvae into the clean container.

I used Jen's method as well.
