I've tried some bbs with my larvae, after 24 hours since first hatch. There was some twitching and lunging on the part of the axies, but I can't tell if they're eating, or if the brine shrimp are just making them nervous... That said, how long can i keep my brine shrimp before they start to foul? Can they be kept alive in the fridge? The majority of my eggs were in a cooler tank than my first hatched, so they are just hatching today. How long before the bbs start to foul the water? I thought I only put in a few (two drops from pipette) but the water looks full of them, and no apparent feeding frenzy like I'd hoped.

When they eat it looks like they have the hiccups.......it is really cute(well i think it is anyway, my hubby thinks Im nuts). The BBS will fowl the water pretty quick once they die. I have never kept them in the fridge but I have heard you can. I set up 2 hatcheries set to hatch 12 hours apart. I did waste alot but they had fresh BBS every feed.

Until they start budding legs, their feeding will look like little lunges, or hiccups, like Leanne said. They won't chase down food, even when they get older. They're not predators, but rather 'wait until something swims by and suck it in' feeders.

I could only keep the BBS for a few days before the water would start to get a smell so i wouldnt keep it for much longer than that. when my other babies hatched they didnt move or feed much untill they were a few days old. when feeding they just move suddenly or appear to jump up and take a swim, grab a light and have a look to see if they have little red bellys from the BBS, that means they are full :) hope this helped
