Are any subspecies of L. vulgaris recognised, and if so haow do they differ from the nominate species?

Any? There are quite a few xD

L.v.graecus
L.v.kosswigi
L.v.lantzi
L.v.meridionalis
L.v.ampelensis
L.v.vulgaris

L.v.schmidtlerorum - I think is being put in doubt.

L.vulgaris subspecies have suffered a lot of changing, i put here the one that i think was most recent, but i might be wrong.

In a recent ergotaxonomy of Salamandridae they were proposing to put L.montandoni back as a subspecies of L.vulgaris, i ignore what will happen about this.

The differences are subtle in some cases and obvious in others.
Best way to see them is to look for pictures. You can also check a guide here:
