Hi all
I know I have been starting quite a few threads lately
So today I found a male L. Vulgaris in my garden with some weird looking lumps on the poor guy. I have seen him before. I found him in a drying up pond not far from my home a few months ago with the illness/infection so I bought him home to see if I can help him and then return him but he escape when the cat pushed over the tank at night  (the tank was outside)
So here is a link to the album with him in, please tell me how/if I can treat this infection.

It feels like it has pus in it or something inside. If you can see on the picture there are two main parts of the... thing, one in front and one behind the front arm. It is only on one side and doesn't really appear on the underside. The dried up pond (when filled) had a lot of pieces of metal in it, I don't know if that has anything to do with it. He is otherwise healthy.
Thanks for any help

ah it's not good that I've already seen it. whole body is swollen, even the throat?
if that is what you must try the baitril in bath. Wait maybe the opinion of someone else, I'm not a specialist in disease.: Mad:

They look like tumors, but could be swelling from an infection..

In circumstances like this(however cruel it sounds) the animal should be left alone and for nature to take it's course, in reality there is probably very little you can do for it.

If it was carrying an infection you could spread it with an act of "kindness" like this!
..as you have found out they have a ways of escaping, and there are numerous pathways for transmitting all the nastys!

Hopefully you have recaptured it in a secure container and maybe someone will suggest a course of treatment, better pictures would be a bonus though!

Thankyou everyone
Looking at him closely, his throat is swelled up too. The area which usually moves up and down with their breathing just vibrates. He is also quite skinny.
I apologise for the blurriness. I am uploading some better pictures and will be doing so more later.
I was thinking a salt bath or something (but there was only a specific type of salt I could use? Kosher or something) . The newt is in a secure container outside with some wood and eco earth. I added some worms and slugs but I don't think he has eaten. I just want to cure him quickly and then release him to hibernate.
I agree Cliff, in retrospect, I wouldn't have taken him home

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
