Hi All,

What would be an appropriate method of keeping the Axolotls tank temperature down to the recommended 60s/70s, without having the ability to change the tanks location? My apartment gets quite warm in the summer, but rather cold in the winter...I guess with the upcoming season change it should work to my benefit. During the hotter days though, what would one do?

Thanks!

I did a quick forum search for the term "cool tank" and found the following relevant posts with very little effort.

I'm sure there is a lot more, I found all of those on just the first couple of pages of results.

A tank mounted fan can drop the water temp 3 degrees. Doesn't sound like much but 78 is better than 80 any day.

Im making a DIY chiller out of a peltier cooler and some water cooling parts for a PC
One option ive seen is the Ice Probe chiller, ive seen some people use it on this site and its fairly cheap (compared to full on chillers) on ebay, saw one going for 135

My DIY setup has cost me 20 dollars so far, im using an intake filter to push water through the block
Im using an old Fluval submersible filter for a 15 gallon tank
I will be running a hose from the filter outlet, sending it out of the tank and to the water block, then feed another tube back into the tank
hopefully i will have enough pressure
Im using a 60Watt peltier cooler to chill the water and a PC heatsink to keep the peltier from frying
I will post details once I get all the parts in :p
