These are coming up to a year old now. Sorry about the poor picture quality; a combination of poor lighting, little time and very reluctant subjects.
In the group pic, you can see one witht he twisted spine (I had a large number of deformities; largely fatal ones; in this first batch of larvae) near the middle (slightly towards the bottom right). I'm not giving him any special treatment, but he is doing very well considering his disability and is around average lemgth so is growing well. He is certainly one of the best feeders.
These are eating small earthworms and whiteworms at the moment, and will hopefully soon start taking waxworms. They have an incredibly violent attacking strategy, shaking the item vogorously so proportionally large meals tend to be dropped by the flipping before they can be consumed.
I recently acquired a pair of H. nebulosus, which I am hoping will breed for me this sping. We shall see...
