Hi All,

Well just a quick update to the colours of the babies laid by the pair in the thread below,

http://www.caudata.org/forum/f46-be...ding/77614-dark-female-laying-white-eggs.html

All seem to be growing well with a good survival rate. I posted some photos to show you some of the colours that came out of this pairing. There seemed to be most of photos 1 and 2 , which will should turn out to be the parents colours so no surprises there! Then the rest seemed to have shown up in very low numbers. Maybe a maximum of ten in some cases and as little as two in the case of the whitish one with the yellow on the head. I'm hoping the last one will be a melanoid as I still don't own one of these and they look black in the tank when swimming around. I'll update these again as the get older and we get a better indication of their true colours. Nice to get a good mix of colours and then the guessing begins?

Regards Neil

they are gorgeous!! my copper female layed all white egg's {how i know she's a copper, i thought she was wild type} i wonder if our baby's will turn out like yours :D

so pretty. I'm sure the last one is a melanoid, and i wouldn't be surprised if the second one(s) turn out to be light melanoid, but could as easily be melanoid leucistic. Always hard to tell at this stage! great mix. Is this the first time you have bread this pair?

First time this pair have bred so I'll keep you posted as they grow up.

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
