Just thought I would share.

Nice pics, especially the A. opacum. Mine won't eat in front of me, how'd you get yours too? Whenever I look under his favorite log he burrows right back under the dirt and moss.

He/she never sees me coming. It pokes its head out whenever its hungry, and come from behind with a pair of tweezers and an earthworm. That way all it sees are is the earthworm. After it has the earthworm its blind to all else. In this particular occasion I teased it to come out after the earthworm. I got it as far as I could with my left hand, and took the pic with my right. It wasn't easy!

Unfortunately I couldn't do that, because the only place my marbled sticks any part of his body out of the moss and dirt is under his piece of corkbark. He can easily see me anytime I find him. Good job though, that picture was fantastic.

Here's what he does:

When I first looked under the corkbark, he was almost all the way out, but he quickly backtracked into his little burrow. Oh well

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
