Hey everyone,

I havent posted here before but fervent reader, now i just bumped into something slightly exciting going on in my tank.

quick picture from my mobile, i'll look to update it later with actual camera pictures.. so yeah looks like something went on in there ;-) Any advice or hints? should i try to separate the eggs?

If you want to raise a few eggs, go for it. Just don't try to raise too many. 10-20 is a good number to start with, not 100!

Otherwise, leave them in the tank and the parents will eat them.

Congrats!

hello, thanks for your response

ive decided i want to keep a few newborns as i've got a spare tank available at the moment. now i'm just curious, what would be the best way to separate the parents from te eggs. remove some of the plants? also, do the eggs require any feeding/particular things in their tank or can i just watch them mature?

You can remove the plants, but eggs peel off from plants pretty easily. Remove them by sliding the leaves between two fingers, and the eggs pop right off.

Place them in a container with some shallow fresh water, and wait until they hatch!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

sorry I am having a hard time trying to upload the pictures- I have them saved on my hard drive... any suggestions-the prompts here are not allowing for downloads that way as far as I can tell. Thanks
