I just set up my tiger salamander tank. This will be the first salamander I will have had and ill be getting him soon. In the mean time I've set up the tank for him. It's a 10 gallon tank. The bottom level is a thin layer of river pebbles for drainage. Above it is coconut fober mixed with a kind of aquarium bark, not sure what its called. On top of that I have done live moss all over the ground and some smooth larger rocks on top as like a pathway from the hide on the right (filled with moss and coconut fiber/bark) to the water dish. I got some fake plants for decoration and driftwood in the back. :D

Sounds like you've put together a pretty good tank. The drainage layer was a great idea as it helps keep the soil healthier and longer lasting. How deep is your soil? Just keep in mind that a 10gal tank is a little small for an adult tiger salamander, so you may want to consider a larger tank for when it gets larger.

Some pictures would be great! would be nice to admire your handiwork.
