They were kept in a 5 gallon tank and only fed brine shrimp. These are my first and can use some help getting these guys healthy. I know you are not supposed to change out all the water but I need to as their water was brown. Any advice would be great

Poor things don't look like they were fed much of anything!!
Now they have clean water they should bounce back pretty quickly if they get a proper diet, i used to feed mine earthworms and trout pellets mostly and they lived long lives with no problems whatsoever. As long as they're just thin and not ill or starting to morph they will put weight on easily but they may be stunted from their poor start in life.
hope this helps!

How in the world was their water brown? D:
Did you keep some of the water, or test it? If you still can, you should test it. If health problems arise (other than their weight), you could always trace it back to their old water.

All they will need now is cool clean water, bigger living space and lots of earthworms. They should be fine with that treatment ;)

Did not keep any water. Looks like the water hasn't been cleaned in about a year and with the frozen brine shrimp it made the water brown

I suppose that was sarcasm, if it hadn't been cleaned for a year I do believe the axolotls would have been dead by now...

Perhaps it may have also been poop? Did the previous owner clean up the poopies or not?

Aww poor things! Give them plenty of earthworms or pellets and they should fatten up pretty quick as posted above. Cool and clean water will also have them feeling like new axies in no time hopefully. Good luck!

If the bogwood was in the tank with them, that can turn the water dark brown with tannins- if it was that, the good news is it's not really dangerous- in fact, some people deliberately let the water get brown for some fish species.

Hope they get well soon!

Awww, poor babies. Worms and TLC are the way to go - keep them clean and well fed and I'm sure they'll be plump and happy in no time.

Changing the water isn't bad as long as the clean water has been dechlorinated & if possible left to age in buckets 24-48hrs - make sure to be very accurate with measuring the dechlorinator, don't just slop it in.

They'll soon recover with good food & clean healthy water :)

Please keep us updated on progress :D

Thank you for taking care of these poor little ones!

I fed them pellets today and has to stop as they ate about 15 each. I will offer more pellets in the morning as I am having trouble finding earthworms here in Okinawa.
