Just got 4ft tank (freckels xmas prezzie)

so i have just been to get a second hand 4 ft tank cost me £30 its huge to my 2ft i can wait to get it all set up an freckels in but i have a few questions about changing tanks i have a big filter that is sat in my cupboard which im going to use how do i change tanks over
will i have to cycle this tank
how do i moving freckels in to her tank
im kinda thick when comes to fish tanks an stuff so can it be in laymans terms lol

first off i would suggest cleaning the tank with a scour pad dipped in a mixture of baking soda and salt and gently rinsing it off completely. Then fill your new tank with 3/4 with conditioned water and 1/4 water from your current tank or better yet use your "old" tank filter. Cycle it for less than a week or maybe more with substrate & plants. Do do a ph test and make sure both tanks are the exact same temperature which they should be, if not use a float bag to add freckles.

Take your old filter/filter media, and the old substrate and stick it in the tank. Run the old filter with the new filter, and keep it going for at least a week. The tank should cycle instantly/very quickly.
Oh and by that I mean run the 2 filters with the axolotl in the new tank, without an ammonia source your bb will starve

thats great thank you for your help i will set on an get it clean tomorrow an the get started in setting it up i will run both filters with freckels an keep testing the water im hoping it wont be as hard as i think it will be again thank you both

If your old filter is cycled, than it shouldn't be a problem at all.

quick update freckels is now in her tank an seems happy an is checking out all her new space an decor i will have to get some more plans as my front room is rather bight but for now have put a towel over one half of the tank so she has some dark space will get soom pics tomorrow thank you for the advise me an freckels are very greatfull
