Ciz :p

I hate to burst your bubble but those "bags" you can buy in the UK are usually pretty pathetic. Good luck though. Nobody feeds live bloodworms - it's just not necessary. Frozen are more dependable.

Personally I do feed live bloodworms every now and then (haven't ordered in some time since the quality was horrible), though I shiver at the idea of having an experience like Mike had with them....

Wouldnt a newt more likely go for live ones because they move??

Mike East's experience is exactly why I don't order live bloodworms. The only reason I ever used live bloodworms was for young larvae. And even they don't absolutely need them.

Regarding what Ciaran asked, you have to divide a newt's programming into two sections: aquatic and terrestrial. Terrestrial newts/salamanders are nearly 100% movement driven. However aquatic newts (and terrestrial ones when aquatic) are closer to 50% movement /50% smell, or even biased towards smell. The only exception to this is newly hatched larvae - they are ~100% movement driven and you'll lose ~all of them if you don't feed live food from the get go. About the time they have fully developed their front limbs they can get by on feeding on non-life food using smell.

Thanks alot John...
