Hi guys, I just got home and Izzie is not doing better. He seems to twitch once in a while and he jawned a couple of times for a few seconds.
His eyes look almost as if they have a very fine white film over them. Has anyone encountered this? Should I isolate izzie from Moe, my other T.gran? Also, I don't know if it matters, but I did put a big new piece of driftwood in the tank.
Any help is much appreciated, I am so worried for him.

Definitely isolate Izzy if you are worried. It's always better to be more cautious.

The symptoms you describe almost sounds like he is shedding, but it could also be something serious. A picture of Izzy would help greatly, if you can post it.

*Edited after reading your other post*

Wait for a few days to see if Izzy returns to his normal behaviour. A very large water change and new additions to the tank is a stressful situation and he might be trying to adjust.

A photo would still be very useful.

Thank you for responding Pin-pin.
I have put Izzie in a separate tank for the time being. I should have mentioned that I recently changed his diet. When I picked up Moe (my new T. gran) she was fed live black worms. I have been feeding both live black worms for the past couple of weeks. Izzie was on a strict diet of frozen blood worms for about 12 years. First I worried that he might have bloat caused by a bacterial infection, but I wonder if he is just constipated. Last night I fed him frozen blood worms again instead of live worms. He seems to be moving around a little more today, but I am not sure what is going on with his eyes. They look like they have a film over them and the iris looks sort of grey around the edges. I have noticed that before when he was shedding, but it doesn't look as if the rest of his body is shedding. I used some of the old water in his temporary set-up but had to add some new spring water. I keep it cool at around 20 degree Celsius. Here some pictures.

Izzy looks pretty good in the photos. Maybe others can see something else, but the cloudy eyes may be from the incomplete shed. Give him something to rub on while he's in the quarantined tank.

However, 12 years is quite a long time, and if you could keep him alive for 12 years--maybe he is getting old!

Yes, I think you were right about the incomplete shed. His eyes seem to have cleared up. My concern was that he might have bloat because his abdomen seemed larger than normal, but he might have been constipated from the new diet. I have been feeding him frozen bloodworms for the past three days and he seems to be back to his old self, moving about and spending more time in the lower waters and I haven't noticed anymore abdominal twitching. I moved him back into the big tank with Moe last night and he seems fine this morning.
