I think that there's a newt, the blue-footed newt, that's not toxic.
 
I disagree with the comment about salamander enthusiasts not liking amphiumas and sirens! My sirens are some of my favorites!
 
I think it's funny that he goes over there, and gets the same advice (although I suspect most of the people at the KS board are from here anyway). Haha butthead!
 
Hehe. Though I am curious, where is the corresponding thread here that lead this person to label all at Caudata.. jerks?

Wouldnt suprise me if the idiot went round every forum he could find posting the same untill he finds someone equaly as dim to vindicate his terrible idea.
He's clearly going to do it anyway, no matter how many people tell him not to.

Its sad really, I feel for whatever animal he ends up getting his hands on.

We can all be a bit pretentious and overbearing sometimes but considering the topic I think all of the replies that were posted here were quite reasonable.

Imagine how this looks to a new person to these forums? I feel this is a welcoming place where anyone can ask a question. Threads like this may make people feel otherwise.

There is no reason to start a thread just to bash someone, no matter what a person has said, even if I strongly disagree with it. So I'm closing this.

Orca, my Axolotl, seems to loose parts of her toes on one limb from time to time, I can't seem to find the problem. Tempature is well, she doesn't seem to have any infections or anything, though. And I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a vet in Brazil for amphibians that are in a reasonable distance to drive without stressing Orca out too much

    Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!

    Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
