My camera skills are pretty lame. I am trying to learn how to take good pics. The glare from my flash murders my pics and when I turn the flash off the shutter stays open longer causing blur. The pic I am posting is only clear because I used the flash and shot down in the tank without glass obstructing me.(Update:The pic was to big to post so I shrunk it and dropped the quality and now it blows but ohwell,I told you I suck.) Maybe this pic can be used as an illustration on the clever feeding method that I learned from Caudata. No more digging for worms guys! Whoo-Hoo!!! And since this is one of my better pics I feel I must lable it art and dub it "It likes it the worms"... Now I must go take my meds.

Hi Sean,

Nice idea. I might try using a larger more open dish like yours after my idea didn't work as well. Well, it did hold the blackworms in, but then it became a game of how many marms could fit into a small bowl.

Cant say it was my idea,I got it from somebody here.Wish I could credit them by name.

Cool pics, and lovely newts!! Sean, you could try, when taking pictures, instead of standing right in front of the tank (at an angle of 90 degrees), stand at a smaller angle, like 45 degrees... so that the light doesn't reflects directly back to the camera. That's why I do to take my pics, mainly of rodents, that I keep in tanks... but here is an example of one taken of my previous newts:

The trick is to take the pic at an angle smaller than 90

Thanks Dimaris,I have shot at angles and got away from the reflection but my flash is super bright and gives the pics a bathed in bright white light look. I am experimenting more so I will probably nail it soon. Hey Pin, Since I named my pic alow me to name yours "Last Marm out gets shipped to Georgia!" I like the fat one still in the jar so I have no objections to taking him.

Hey Sean, if you have a digital camera, chances are that you can lower the brightness of your flash. I know I can do it with mine and that's not a professional camera either. Check your manual, might be worth the effort
