So I posted a question a few days ago asking about my Lucy because she stopped eating and then started losing her girls so I quarantined her and she started eating but now has red spots on her tail. Today I decided to take my wild type out of the tank to check on him and he was covered in white film. I couldn’t see it before because I keep them in the darkest corner of my house because I know they like that and he’s so dark that I hadn’t noticed. I am aware that it’s fungus so they’re both in separate sick tanks and I took everything out of the tank and washed it I’m going to restart the cycle with new water and filter but I need to know if there’s anything in particular that I need to do any special washing techniques or should I just throw everything away and start new?

go to Axolotls - Requirements & Water Conditions in Captivity use holtfreters solution or one of the modified solutions. axolotls are prone to fungus issues as they are a slight brackish moderate to hard water animals.
unless there was fungus/mold in the tank you don't need to clean it out.
make sure when you do water changes you go around all areas of the tank because you can have stagnant areas due to lack of water movement.

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail. I also asked this as an actual question in a thread in case anyone wants to answer it there instead of here
