thankyou, I am getting quite obsessed with the setup i am considering buying a much larger tank ie. 5 footer and have caves and live rocks with a separate section containing ghost shrimp / snails / daphnia etc to act as a natural filtration system. This is of course not to replace a normal filter but i thought it would be pretty cool to have an eco system up and running, plus would be good to raise live feed etc.
Something else i was wondering about, if i had a grill on the base with gravel on top with a slanted piece of glass underneath would that not work as an under gravel filtration. Ie any debris that goes between the large gravel would fall down the slant towards the shrimp etc for them to gobble up and end up in the filter. This would surely make an incredibly easy cleaning job. Any thoughts?
