Hey.

With the newts now identified, they are in a proper home now, decent filtered water etc.

Caught Sid having a wonder round, and he leaned up agasit the glass, to get some air... then I saw his belly is covered in black patches...

Whereas Bob has a clean belly... is something not right with Sid?

Also, I've noticed they don't seem to have an interest in food as yet, albet I am only uisng wax Worms at the mo, trying to fatten Sid up mainly, but they anit been fed for a while as far as I know due to being kept in the dry, on gravel, and no one knowing what they ate...

That looks like natural colouring to me, couple of mine look very similar.
Mine go mad for chopped night crawlers and 'giant' bloodworm. Staple diet is frozen bloodworm, they will also take prawn, daphnia, tubifex, small shrimp and artemia. They even had a slowly drowning cricket that found its way in which prompted me to try a wood louse as well, slightly puzzled at first but it didnt last more than 2 minutes. Ramshorn and Malayan live bearer snails seem to appeal as well, as do small slugs(possibly the only gastropod free tank I've ever had).
Infact they've only just stopped nibbling my fingers whenever they're in the tank.

If they were big enough to take mice they'd rival Pacmans in eating habits!

Phew thanks for that :D

They seem to be eatting more during the night, before I went sleep last night, there was 6 Wax Worms, this morning, none... So at least they are eatting...
