hello! i've had my axie cheese for about 2 months now. i think it's a girl. but she appears to be kind of swollen in the abdomen? i don't know if she's just growing or if this is how they are supposed to look at her age (5-6 months). at first i worried she was eating sand which caused distention, but she has a healthy appetite still. i high lighted the ridges that i'm concerned with in the white pen underneath the first picture.
any and all help would be lovely, i'm pretty worried for her.

Any updates on her? Did you figure out what's wrong?

She does look maybe a bit bloated in the second picture, but the ridges look pretty normal to me. All axolotls have them, but they sometimes look a little different depending on the axolotl.

the update: she was not eating sand, she was a bit constipated! her bloating has vanished and she's now eating well and has slimmed down a bit! healthy girl eating 2 worms per day.

thank you for the response! I'm a bit anxious as a new owner. I haven't checked caudata because she's she's healthy and happy so sorry for the late reply! and thank you again

Hold on, what size worms are these? If they're small, that sounds fine, but honestly my first thought was nightcrawlers and that's a LOOOOT of food for an axolotl. Either way, be sure to keep an eye on her weight so you can tell when her metabolism starts to slow down and you can switch to every other day 😁

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

sorry I am having a hard time trying to upload the pictures- I have them saved on my hard drive... any suggestions-the prompts here are not allowing for downloads that way as far as I can tell. Thanks
