I just upgraded to a 60 x 30 x 30cm Tank with my two axolotl Coddle and Spot.
I was wondering if my new tank set up is suitable for them.

The New Tank has:
  • 3 Live Plants in the middle and sides of the tank.
  • 2 Caves for them to hide in.
  • Large Glass Beads as a Bottom (Marble size).
  • A Floating Plastic Plant to block of light on one side of the tank.
  • A Large Plastic Plant in the corner.
  • An Ornament that they can swim into as another cave.
  • Large rocks on each side of the Caves and to hold down the plants.

Thanks for anyone who answers!

A picture would be great. Only thing on the list that jumped out was the beads like marbles. Not sure how big your critters are but I might rethink that idea. As far as everything else it sounded ok. To be sure a few pics would be better.

Thanks

Most deff a good start!

but!!! as a straight
Bare bottom
Sand
or HUGE rocks/stones/slate

marble sized rocks (or w/e) will cause impaction, their mouths are huge. Or going to be huge if they are still small lol

please before you put your axis in your tank consider changing your substraight

Not to mention, that kind of substrate is a real pain in the hind-end to keep clean. It requires practically constant vacuuming to keep waste and detritus from building up and fouling your water quality.
