Awh, Luna is so cute!

I can't see an issue with this setup - you've got a hide and your bare bottom substrate is fine, themometer is essential...only thing I was wondering was about your filter. Where's that to?

The setup looks fine to me, from what I have read. But I am curious about the filter as well. Also, are the plants soft? They look hard to me.

my plants are quite soft ( but she doesn't do much with them anyway) and i have a sponge filter in the corner of the tank but the video was so dark you couldn't see it

thanks for commenting, now i don't feel bad

Looks fine to me. You won't need a light unless it's for the plants. Axies love the dark.
Also I don't have a lid on mine to keep it cooler. I put some mesh on the top of the tank. As long as they can't jump out then they're fine.
Luna certainly isn't camera shy :p

hey, i was looking for some substrate to use for my tank (i feel bad seeing her skid around)
and i saw this stuff called 'reptile cage carpet', it looks pretty cool and is safe for lizards, snakes e.g. and i was wondering whether it would be safe for an axie?

it says it's ok for turtles

Reptil cage carpet is not designed for aquatic environments - only dry vivaria.
I have an acrylic false base with sand embedded in aquarium silicone - but my axies still do the 'running on the spot' thing before they get momentum!
You can also consider astroturf, large slates, river stones - any thing that the axies can't swallow.

I second the no light thing, if you want it for plants ect then get lots of floating plants to block the light for them :)
